Post Fountains of Gene
In a recent interview with Dave McGrath for the July Fan Club newsletter, Chris Collingwood, lead singer/guitarist/songwriter for the popular band Fountains of Wayne, revealed something very interesting!  Being a H-U-G-E Gene Pitney fan, Collingwood said he would be thrilled if Gene "would ever consider being a guest vocalist on a track on the band's next CD."

Fountains of Wayne scored a massive international hit last year with "Stacy's Mom." The three-piece band from New York recently released a CD titled "Out of State Plates," which includes a cover version of Gene's "Today's Teardrops" (as well as the Bacharach-David classic "Trains and Boats and Planes").

Collingwood actually lives in Massachusetts---not far from where Gene lives in Connecticut. Collingwood hopes to meet Gene at Gene’s June 11th concert in Hartford.

Post Titles?
Once again apologies for all the newbie questions!

Am was wondering about the titles given under your names in posts? (Fan, Devotee, etc.)  I am assuming that they are given based on the number of posts you make.  If so, can someone please give me the breakdown or please explain.

Marty

Hello all
Im here to just get some things off my chest. I have always been a fan of Gene and I was going to see him in Liverpool. But he died as you all know. I found it all very sad and im lucky that my beloved is also a fan. When I heard that Gene Had died I actually cried.  Sounds all so crazy I know. I have never met him and thought I might at the concert. It wasnt meant to be. I hope his family are ok. When I was a kid I Gene was a heart throb of mine. Never believed that I would get a chance to see him in person. I never did. God bless you Gene and your family.

Post Response to Jean Cruse
Dear Jean,

I am so sorry that you were never able to meet or see Gene in person.  You are right on target about your feelings for him.  We all have a personal loss, even if we did not meet or see Gene in person.  He was a very special spirit.

I was able to see Gene in concert twice in 2002 and actually got to shake his hand at the second concert in July of 02 at the Mohegan Sun Casino in CT.

We will all be able to support each other and share what we know or feel about Gene.  It will help the healing and keep Gene close to us all.

Hugs, Sharon

Hi Jean,  I can  confirm that Gene was a really great guy.  I have been a fan since 1963 and finally got to talk to Gene via instant messaging on aol, then I got to meet him at fan club conventions and he always recognised me when he shook hands at concerts and remembered me by  name . I cried a lot on the day he died and many times since. My wife, son and Granddaughter ( now 8 ) were also fans.  Sorry you never got to see him,you missed a real treat.   Barry.   (Gene always called me Bazza)
